I have allready posted my best pictures, long pictures and a whole bunch of other thoughts about my trip to finland. Nevertheless i do not want to hold back the little masterpiece that Bene has put together of his and my media collections of finland. Thanks to his brilliant new sony camera and my rugged photo specialist we captured a pretty nice trip through helsinki, espoo and turku. Props to a really great video! Please post a nice comment on his page for this one!
One week after coming home to germany the boring stuff wants to be done. The compulsory Erasmus report is cheerfully beating up my precious time. My university in Munich and the european Erasmus program seem to be all to eager to know what really happened to me in Finland (can’t they just read my blog?!).
I am not very talented at writing those things and thus it took some to write the paper (How do you fit Finland in 3 Pages// Can an Erasmus life and an academic career mix at all?// What did I do their anyway? ..). Finally finished I do not want it to be useless in some office spaces in Brussels. Thinking farther their might even be some useful information for future students in their. Not sure if it helps anybody but please feel free to use it as information, advertisement, or whatever your heart feels when you hear the five letters: SUOMI
Sorry, but this one is german only – anybody wants to translate, feel free to send me an english copy.
No word to express my emptiness – I have lost too many friends today, at least it feels exactly like that – i hope that some kind of meaning will come back soon. It is nice to feel appreciated but to realize what one leaves behind is just pain.
Leaving my room today i found a lot of old memories, that have reminded me of the last 8 months – What they have been for me and what was important. A lot of you have dropped by and shared our joined memories. Even though it has not been a produtive packing it was a proper way to review these last ten month. If you did not have enough of these anecdotes I invite you to click my category cloud on the left. Choosing words like Finnland, Erasmus Helsinki, Helsinki, Hyvää Suomi and Teaching should give you a small insight into my diverse life in the northern hemisphere
Thank you for a wonderful playground and exceptional playmates! Be proud of your country and the treasures it holds. I am gonna have to say it one last time: Hyvää Suomi!
Two days ago i posted a little status message:
Just going to sleep .. in a snow cave by the lake in Majstranden – after all its cosy -1°C in Helsinki
Next day quite a lot of people asked me what that was about. Once I told them that their was nothing more to that status than allready expressed, people started to look at me weirdly. Suspecting some kind of finish drunkenness, they turned away in disbelief. Finish madness would have been more like it. My friend christian told me a couple of nights before that day about his adventure in a snow cave. Not able to resist I talked him into doing it again. Grabing our cross country skies, joakims isolation mattress and a proper amount of Sisu we went out to the Majstranden bay in order to resist the finish cold. Still did not understand what all of this is about? Well, just take a look ..
Oh yeah – and i really could not resist to waste another five minutes with one of the hillarious iMovie ’11 themes ..
Full disclosure: Man, I really did feel comportable in my cosy and warm bed the next night ..
Moscow! It has been a long time since i published the first part of my russia trip to St. Petersburg but finally i managed to edit the Moscow part.
What happened that i did it? Well, first of all my exams were finished on monday and i had the opportunity to spend one night at the airport of Helsinki. Heavily armoured with my laptop and loads of motivation i took on the challenge.
Yes, i could not wait and had to get a sneak peak of what will be the european culture capitol of 2011: Åbo! Most of you will know it as Turku but since i went their with 2 swinish (swedish/ finish) friends in order to get to one of the biggest swedish finish events of the year i should use their native name as well. Riding their friday directly after school i was fortunate enough to visit a sitz (joint drinking, singing and get together with rules in an student atmosphere) in another city of finland.
Actually (even though my finnish friends won’t like it) this podcast should be called Hyvää Venäjä. One week in Russia and i still have to process all the amazing experiences .. Crazy times – i think i should just start with the first three days and my trip to St. Petersburg.
After the long pause before the release of the last podcast the current one is following in a rapid succession. Today i’m happy to show you the second half of Benes and Youssefs crazy days in Suomi. Their is not much to say since the great pictures of todays video speak to themselves.
It has been a long time since the last Hyvää Suomi Podcast. This was not because because life has slowed down here in the north and i had not anything to film but rather the opposite has happened. Life has been very pleasant to me and thus busy. Great things have happened and i opted to experience as much as i can, rather than sitting in front of a computer and editing past memories. Now that my swedish exam today has actually been passed quite well and i really did not want to start anything else tonight i decided to finally take on Hyvää Suomi – Part 5. This Part staring Youssef and Bene who were brave enough to visit me in the strange north of Europe. I warned them
Finally I have finished the editing period of my first two weeks in Finland. Today your are invited to go on our Canoeing trip to the north of Finland. Next to the border of Russia and pretty far in the north, the temperatures and the density of living creatures dropped significantly. Fortunatelly enough the cell phone coverage had been extraordinary even in the national state park where we spend this amazing week. Their
