HDR Images from Kochelberg

As promised I am slowly releasing the edited results from my Mountain Climbing/ Photo shooting Tour. I want to start with a rather weird-looking image. It depicts the sunset from the mountaintop looking northwest into the evening about 15 minutes before the sun vanished. Capturing sunsets gets tricky since the usual contrast range of your camera is much lower than that of your eye perception. Thus your camera has to focus on either making a wonderful landscape or showing bright colors in the sky. Both is not possible – or is it? HDR images take several exposure steps in pictures and combine them in one high dynamic range picture. I admit that the result shown here over does it quite a lot, but even though I was disgusted at first the picture does not leave me alone now.

Below you can find the original pictures used to create this colorful monster.
